where are the works at Camp Nou?

FC Barcelona welcomes to the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium this Tuesday in the Champions League (9 p.m.). Its usual lair at Camp Nou is still under construction, but the club hopes to have it back during the month of February.

On the eve of Barça-Brest, the Camp Nou construction site was still active late in the evening this Monday. Even after sunset, it's hard not to see in every corner the yellow vest of a worker working to restore Barça's jewel.

But the project is still far from finished. No, Barça will not play again at Camp Nou by the end of the year, as club spokesperson Elena Fort had hoped less than a month ago. According to Mundo Deportivo, the return is hoped for next February.

Club subscribers have been informed that the scheduled La Liga match against Alavés on the weekend of February 2 will be played at Montjuïc, with the expected scenario being a return to the Camp Nou around the middle of the month. This should allow Barça to compete, with a limited number of spectators, in the final stages of the Champions League in the event of qualification. The Clasico against Real Madrid scheduled for May will also be an expected event.

Seats being installed

For the moment, the exterior of the stadium only reveals the metal framework, far from the expected final result. It is inside that the progress is most visible. The blue and red seats are being actively installed in the stands in recent days. Yellow seats form the logo of the music streaming platform Spotify, which attaches its name to Spotify Camp Nou.

A final capacity of 105,000 spectators

And good news for the progress of the work, the site will now be able to be active more often. According to the Barcelona media El Periódico, neighborhood associations have given the green light to resume work on Saturday. The site had not been active that day since the end of June. Except on Saturdays, the site can even be busy until midnight in certain areas further from homes.

This season, however, the work will be far from finished when Barça returns to its stadium, and the capacity of the Camp Nou will remain reduced. Once the work is fully completed in 2026, the new Camp Nou will have a roof covering the entire stands, and should be able to accommodate 105,000 spectators.
