The question of censorship before the end of the year arises seriously. The fate of Michel Barnier is in the hands of the National Rally, and Marine Le Pen has reaffirmed her red lines.
Michel Barnier alone in the face of opposition. The Prime Minister knows it, as the budget vote approaches in the National Assembly, it is his position at the head of the government that he is playing. So, in his office at the Hôtel de Matignon, Monday November 25, consultations followed with the right as well as the left. Interviews in particular with Éric Ciotti, preceded by Marine Le Pen, with whom Michel Barnier spoke for 1 hour 15 minutes, visibly without success.
If the budget passes as wanted by the government with 49.3, the National Rally will vote on a motion of censure against the Prime Minister. “We have explained what the non-negotiable elements are for us. I believe that we are loyal in the political approach that is ours”said Marine Le Pen. A position shared by La France insoumise, represented by Mathilde Panot: “I reaffirmed to the Prime Minister that if 49.3 is used, we will trigger a motion of censure from the New Popular Front”.
