Mayor Anne Hidalgo will not run again in the 2026 municipal elections

“I will not run for mayor of ”, announced Tuesday, November 26, Anne Hidalgo, current mayor of the capital, in an interview with Monde. “It’s a decision I made a long time ago,” declares the elected socialist, in charge of the capital since 2014, putting an end to the suspense of several months over her candidacy, but assures that she will remain “mayor until the last day” and will continue to play politics after 2026.

Anne Hidalgo also announces Monde that she supports Rémi Féraud, president of the Paris en commun group (which brings together socialists and various leftists) on the Paris Council, former mayor of the 10th arrondissement and one of its oldest followers. “He is the one who will be able to carry our history and reinvent a future for Paris,” according to the mayor, greeting someone who “the necessary solidity, seriousness and ability to come together”.

Last week, two candidates had already declared themselves in the mayoral race: Emmanuel Grégoireformer deputy mayor of Paris and PS deputy for the 7th district of the capital, and Ian Brossatcommunist senator from Paris, who announced it on Bleu Paris.
