Lloyd Kelly comes into the Magpies defence for his fourth league start for the club following his summer arrival from AFC Bournemouth.
It’s otherwise the same XI which beat Nottingham Forest last time out to make it three wins in a row in all competitions – but Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson both return to the bench.
Wilson, who has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances against the Hammers for Newcastle and previous club Bournemouth, is named in a matchday squad for the first time this season due to injury.
Trippier, meanwhile, hasn’t played since a 0-0 draw at Everton in October.
Nick Pope continues in goal, with Fabian Schär making his 200th appearance for the club and Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento named in defence after both won their full first England caps during the international break.
Anthony Gordon scored his first Three Lions goal against Republic of Ireland.
Sandro Tonali and Miguel Almirón also netted for their countries during the break, and are among the substitutes.
