A few days before his eldest son Léon's 16th birthday, Jamel Debbouze spoke tenderly about his son's sporting ambitions during his appearance on the Focus Sunday show on RTL. The 49-year-old comedian, married to journalist Mélissa Theuriau since 2008, proudly reveals his son's journey within the Paris Saint-Germain association.
A late but promising vocation for Léon Debbouze
While some children start playing football at a very young age, Léon Debbouze chose to embark on this sporting adventure late. A decision which in no way affects his determination, as his father points out: “Itry it, he fights in any case. He started very late but today he has a good level and I wish him success.”
The young man is currently playing in the U16 team of the PSG association, a structure dedicated to amateur players. He notably rubs shoulders with the son of Nicolas Anelka.
Jamel Debbouze, an admiring father
The comedian does not hide his admiration at the tenacity shown by his eldest son. “I like him to experience that, and frankly, returning to a field that is windy, rainy, snowy… We have to respect that!”he confides with emotion.
Aware of the challenges that await his son in “one of the hardest jobs in the world”, Jamel Debbouze particularly appreciates that the reality on the ground serves as a daily lesson: “I don't need to tell him, the pitch reminds him every day, the locker room also reminds him every day.” @DebbouzeJamel for his son, who dreams of becoming a professional footballer ⚽️ At the microphone of @mohamedbouhafsi in “Focus Sunday” on #RTL pic.twitter.com/taDQaBHj2d— RTL France (@RTLFrance)
Jamel Debbouze, a father involved in his son's education
It is interesting to note the evolution of Jamel Debbouze's concerns regarding the education of his son.
While in 2011, in the columns of Psychologies magazine, he expressed his reservations about Léon's schooling: “You can't ask a kid to spend six hours in a classroom without becoming an idiot, or even a 'super-ass'“, today, it is with pride that he watches his son pursue his dreams on the football fields.
