A tourist boat carrying 31 tourists and 14 crew members capsized in the Red Sea on Monday, November 25. 28 people were rescued, 17 are missing.
The luxury ship Sea Story sank in the Red Sea, off the coast of Egypt, on Monday November 25. Egyptian authorities announced that 28 of the 45 people on the tourist boat were rescued. However, 17 people are still wanted, indicates BFM TV. In a statement, the Red Sea governorate explained that the ship, which had on board “31 tourists of different nationalities as well as 14 crew members”, launched distress signals at 5:30 a.m. Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The ship left the port of Marsa Alam, Egypt, on Saturday, November 23, for a five-day excursion during which the tourists were to go diving. Major General Amr Hanafi said the survivors were found in the Wadi-el-Gemal region, south of Marsa Alam, and were receiving medical treatment, the BBC reports.

He assured that an Egyptian navy warship and military aircraft were intensifying efforts to find the missing 17. The town of Marsa Alam is popular with tourists for diving, as it is surrounded by famous coral reefs. According to Dive Magazinethe boat would carry on board four British divers, two Americans, two Belgians, a Chinese, four Egyptians, a Finn, an Irishman, two Norwegians, two Polish divers, two Slovaks and two Swiss.
