A race against time has begun. Egyptian authorities announced Monday that 28 people had been rescued and search operations were underway for 17 other passengers after a tourist boat sank, reports l'AFP.
45 people on board
At 5:30 this morning, the ship carrying 45 people, including 14 crew members, sent out the first distress signals. Before being shipwrecked. Emergency services were contacted. Military planes are sweeping the area looking for survivors.

Tourist trip
The boat left Marsa Alam port on Saturday for a five-day diving trip. Tourists on board are British, Spanish, German, American, Slovak, Swiss, Belgian, Polish, Norwegian, Irish, Finnish and Chinese nationals.
The owner of the company to which the boat belongs, Sea Story, has not yet made any comment.
