Tried for bankruptcy and money laundering, Magali Berdah was acquitted

Monday, November 25, 2024, the long-awaited judgment in the case between Magali Berdah, a figure of influence in French justice, was finally delivered. She was on trial for bankruptcy in the BA&CO case, a company liquidated in 2015.

On September 30, 2024, Magali Berdah, an emblematic personality in the world of influence, was judged for bankruptcy and money laundering before the criminal court. This case concerned the company BA&CO, an insurance brokerage firm that she took over in 2014 with her mother and a childhood friend. One year after this takeover, the company was placed in compulsory liquidation with liabilities of 2.5 million euros. The prosecution accused him of having deliberately orchestrated the bankruptcyin particular via unjustified cash withdrawals and luxury expenses incurred on an account intended for salaries.

Although Magali Berdah denied any responsibility, saying she was only an employee in charge of business development, the public prosecutor had requested 18 months in prison, including 6 farms under electronic braceletas well as a permanent ban on running a business. Magali Berdah therefore impatiently awaited the final decision:“The Court and the President will render their decision on November 25 (…) I have complete confidence in justice,” as she explained during her speech on social networks.

Magali Berdah was acquitted, her mother convicted

On Monday, November 25, 2024, the Nice court finally delivered its decision under advisement. Based on flaws in the investigation, the judges concluded thatit was not proven that Magali Berdah was the de facto manager of BA&CO. As a result, she was acquitted. The only conviction targets his motherlegal manager of the company during its last year of activity. Already held responsible for the company's debts, the latter received a sentence of 18 months suspended prison sentence. This decision puts an end to a decade of litigation for Magali Berdah, who had insisted on the importance of dissociating this affair from her career in influence: “The prosecutor brought elements, we brought other elements with my lawyers. I defended myself, I fought, we provided evidence, we provided arguments. This is for this affair which dates back ten years ago, which concerns insurance and which is absolutely not linked to the world of influence”she explained on social networks. Underlining her confidence in justice, she emerges from this trial, while her mother will have to assume the financial and legal consequences of the management of BA&CO.
