The tragedy took place this Monday morning at the Edgar-Quinet high school in Bourg-en-Bresse.
A student was stabbed in the throat by a classmate who had armed himself with a pair of scissors. The teacher tried to intervene.
The 15-year-old victim was hospitalized, his life is not in danger.
The Ain prefecture announces that the suspect was arrested by the police and placed in police custody. We do not yet know what motivated this action.
Students present in class when the assault took place will be subject to “specific support within the establishment” aindinois.
The courses were not canceled, but the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region Fabrice Pannekoucke and the mayor of Bourg-en-Bresse Jean-François Debat visited the site.
