gusts of up to 96 km/h in the department

The biggest gusts were recorded in Arbent (96 km/hour), Ambérieu-en-Bugey (89 km/hour) and Sutrieu, a town in Valromey-sur-Séran. “Not exceptional” values according to Christophe Mertz, forecaster at MeteoNews, who however notes a particularity: “A southerly wind” which impacted the plain and the north west facade of Ain. In the far east of the department, however, there was no wind, except on the crests of the Jura. In Saône-et-, meteorologists have noted gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

Temperatures “dix degrees above normal »

As a result of this southerly wind, temperatures have risen significantly since Sunday. For example, the thermometer showed 17.8 degrees. “Ten degrees above normal is quite rare,” says Christophe Mertz.

The rainy disturbance expected at the end of the day this Monday should lower temperatures.

From tomorrow, the people of Aindin should find much calmer weather. “Temperatures will drop very gradually by the end of the week, returning to seasonal normals.”

The electricity network “resists”

The Enedis teams, responsible for electricity distribution and management of the electricity network, say they are mobilized and ready to intervene if necessary. “For the moment, the distribution network is holding up, we are in the middle of the gale. The network is currently quite solid. There are very few customers cut off,” assures José Noya, communications manager for the regional management of Enedis.
