Monday brings sunshine, rain arrives Tuesday

Low pressure will pass to the north of Southern New England on Tuesday. As a frontal system sweeps through, showers will cross the region beginning Tuesday morning. Those of you who commute early will have dry roads, but it does look like the showers will move into the area sometime in the morning. Temperatures will again be in the low 50s.

I’m expecting anywhere from a tenth of an inch to half an inch of rainfall across the region. There might be a few heavier showers, so that’s why there’s the range. Overall, this is not a big weather system. Most of the rain will fall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., although some showers could linger into the early evening hours on Tuesday.

Tuesday is a big travel day and for those of you heading west, rainfall will be coming to an end a little bit earlier. The good news is with the cloud cover solar glare will not be a factor. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving are among the busiest travel days this week and the agency expects to screen more than 2.8 million people at US airports on Tuesday.

Wednesday is expected to be a sunny day, with temperatures between 45 and 50 from the Worcester hills to Downtown Boston. Solar glare will be a factor heading west and south later in the afternoon for those of you traveling.

Thanksgiving Day

A new weather system approaches for Thanksgiving Day. Presently, it looks like any precipitation should hold off until after the football games Thursday morning. We will be watching an area of low pressure develop to the south and then move toward Southern New England.

The exact track and strength of this potential nor’easter will determine just how much rainfall we receive and when it will start and end, but I think you should plan on a wet second half of Thursday and especially Thursday night. If the storm gets a little stronger, we could become quite windy Thursday afternoon and night.
