Jamel Debbouze recounts the encounter of his life with the late Jean-Pierre Bacri

Jamel Debbouze has come a long way from his grandfather's grocery store “which made everyone laugh even though people owed him money” and where he began his first antics. As the comedian launches a Zénith tour with the Jamel Comedy Club, he spoke of the figures who have marked his career in 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

After paying tribute to the essential role of Jamel Debbouze's mother with whom he opened a restaurant at the top of the Arab World Institute to share “the best couscous in Paname”, Laurent Delahousse launched: “Over the years 2000, there was a couple who believed in you, it was the couple Bacri and Jaoui.” The actor and producer was quick to talk about his mentors.

The best of engines

“Like all the people who supported me, they are people who do not pass judgment on you and who accompany you, without ever forcing advice or education, because they have a beautiful soul,” a- he began on the set of 2.

If Agnès Jaoui “taught him to breathe”, “Jean-Pierre, it was the meeting of my life I think”, he says with emotion. “Being carried by him is galvanizing, it gave me wings. Having Jean-Pierre Bacri say in your ear, “It’s good, go ahead, go for it, you’re made for this”, it’s the best motivation you can have. He never left me anyway since he left. »

During the last César ceremony, Jamel Debbouze presented Agnès Jaoui with an honorary prize with a particularly moving declaration of love. He returned to his meeting with the co-director of Taste of others. He then repeated the startling diction of Jean-Pierre Bacri, who died in 2021. “You will see, Agnès, at first glance, she is a little distant, but after four or five years, she will adore you” is recalled, before confirming: “He was right, Agnès Jaoui, she is not won easily, but when she loves you, it is for life”.

Reviewing these images, Jamel could not help but pay a new tribute to “the greatest lady of cinema we have in France”. And to conclude with emotion: “To have lived at the same time as them, at the same time, it’s a chance”.
