Bad news for the Lyon Christmas market, Place Carnot in the Perrache district (2nd arrondissement). The market which opened this weekend is forced to close this Monday, November 25, 2024 due to the weather.

The City of Lyon announced this Sunday the closure of the Christmas market for Monday due to the predicted violent winds. “The Christmas market, Place Carnot (2nd) will also be closed on Monday, November 25 all day,” writes the municipality in a press release.

The market is open every day including Monday.

The Rhône on orange alert, winds up to 110km/h

Météo has placed the Rhône department on orange alert for the risk of violent winds, from midnight this Monday.

“From late Sunday afternoon, and especially from late night Monday morning, the wind accelerates significantly and reaches 100-110 km/h (sometimes more on Monday), particularly in Lyonnais, the sector of Givors, the Gier valley,” explains the City with forecasts from Météo France.

Closed parks, gardens and cemeteries

Parks, gardens and cemeteries have also been closed since 12 p.m. Sunday and will be closed again on Monday. The City of made the same decision.

The end of orange vigilance is scheduled for this Monday at 3 p.m.
