Călin Georgescu won the first round of the presidential elections, with an advance of approximately 337,000 votes over the next ranked. He also got the most votes in the diaspora, according to official data.
Călin Georgescu obtained 43.42% of the votes cast in the diaspora, the results of the presidential elections show, on the AEP platform, after the centralization of 97.15% of the votes.
He is followed by Elena Lasconi. The USR candidate obtained 207,585 votes, respectively 26.7%.
Votes from the diaspora:
George Simion ranked third in the diaspora, with 94,199 votes – 12.12%. In fourth place is Mircea Geoană, with 37,990 votes – 4.89%.
Only in the 5th and 6th places come the candidates of the traditional parties, respectively PNL and PSD. Nicolae Ciucă obtained 36,203 votes – 4.66%, and Marcel Ciolacu obtained 22,427 – 2.88%.
At the time of writing, the battle for second place in the second round of the presidential election is still ongoing. The difference between Marcel Ciolacu and Elena Lasconi decreases as the votes from the diaspora are centralized.
