Marco Materazzi made Football history in the 2006 World Cup final. He equalized for Italy with a header and then found himself in the spotlight when he received a headbutt by Zinédine Zidane.
Marco Materazzi (51 years old) commented on this match in an interview with Lucky Block. “I haven't spoken to Zinedine Zidane since that day, I never spoke to him before and I haven't spoken to him since. We don't have a relationship“.
The former Italian international, however, specifies that he is open to a discussion with Zizou.
“He is a football legend and I have a lot of respect for him as a player and manager, having won three Champions Leagues in a row. I'm not expecting any more excuses, but I would like a conversation with him now that so many years have passed. There would be no problem“.
Zidane commented on this gesture several years ago and apologized for the image it gave to young players: “This gesture was seen by two or three billion people on television, and millions and millions of children watched it. It was an inexcusable action, and I want to apologize to them and to the educators whose job it is to show children what to do and what not to do.“.
