İsmail Köybaşı made a statement to the press after the match played at Tüpraş Stadium.
Stating that they never lost their faith despite falling behind 2-0 in the match, the 35-year-old left back said, “It was an emotional and meaningful match for me. We did not make any moment of the game ugly today. We just tried to play and fight. We got the reward of this with the victory. It was a game we deserved.” “I think it was a victory. We maintained our belief that we could win until the end of the match. We are very happy and proud. It is a gift to all our teammates, coaches and fans.” he said.
Underlining that they are a young and enthusiastic team, İsmail Köybaşı said:
“We have a structure that keeps its own goals within itself, reflects these on the field in a modest way, works with a modest group, but shows every match that nothing is a coincidence. I am proud of my team. I am very happy that we made people say ‘Fortunately, Göztepe has a match’ in our 100th year.” And I’m proud. We have a Med Cezir. The stands are full in every match we play. It was not easy to live in this team. I have been playing in this team since we were in the lower league. “There is no joy without difficulties. I experienced this in Beşiktaş as well. Life is always like this. We are a young and enthusiastic team. I hope this point is the beginning of things we will achieve in the future.”
– “They’re a little fragile”
The experienced football player shared the following opinions regarding the decline experienced by Beşiktaş, for which he played for 2009-2016, in the Super League:
“Sometimes there are breaking moments in football; you lose some things, not when you are defeated, but when you lose your faith. In the three-point system, everything can change at any time. Even though we lost 2-0 against our opponent today, we did not lose our faith and continued our pressure. We won. In football and in life That’s the way it is. There is a small and thin line between giving up and being broken. If you step on it, you will get something in return. From the outside, they are a bit fragile.”
