Napoli remain leaders in Serie A. However, it was a tough job against the Romans, who were coached by new coach Claudio Ranieri, before the three points remained dry. Despite being superior on the field, Napoli hardly had any chances to score against the very defensive guests from the Eternal City.
After the break, Ranieri reinforced his team’s concrete tactics when he sent the German Mats Hummels onto the field. But this substitution didn’t pay off: Romelu Lukaku just had to push the ball in in the 54th minute – to the delight of the Tifosi in the Maradona Stadium. AS Roma didn’t know how to react after the 0-1 defeat and were ultimately too harmless offensively. After the defeat at the leader, Roma remains in the lower midfield, which by no means corresponds to the expectations of the Roman club management and the fans.
