It all started with a different morning in Barcelona. Pere Romeu lined up his traditional line of four in defense, with one of the big focuses on Ingrid Engen, who came out on the right side, a test he already did for a few minutes against St. Pölten in the Champions League. Barça’s lineup was still being discussed, with the novelty of the Norwegian on the right sidewhen Costa Adeje took advantage of their opportunity. The Canaries needed three minutes for María José to beat Ona Batlle – today she started on the left side – and put a measured cross to the far post. There was Babajide, who hit the ball first with his left foot to sneak it to Cata Collalso taking advantage of the fact that Ingrid Engen did not arrive in time to cover the shot.
It was an exceptional situation, with the culé team having conceded so soon and playing at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Pere Romeu’s team continued to insist until in the 37th minute and 29 seconds they got their reward. It was like uncorking a bottle. The tying goal came from the boots of Irene Paredes. The Basque central defender received a back pass on the edge of the area from Aitana Bonmatí and did not think about shooting from outside. His shot, powerful and somewhat crossed, pierced Echezarreta’s goal.
Two minutes later came the second and Barça’s comeback. It all started in the opposite field, near the Costa Adeje Tenerife area, with a triangulation between Mapi León, Ewa Pajor and Claudia Pina. After a play in which the Polish striker ended up losing the ball, Ona Batlle was in charge of putting a low cross into the small area so that Pajor scored his goal almost exactly two minutes later, when the score was around minute 39 and 30 seconds.
The third came during added time and from the penalty spot after a handball that the referee signaled against Costa Adeje. Graham was in charge of throwing from eleven meters and, with a very tight and not strong shot, he put the third in favor on the scoreboard.
In the second part the script was the same. Barça continued to put the Canaries in their area and in 56 they were about to score the fourth. First was a shot by Claudia Pina, from the left-hand edge of the area with a classic shot, which ended up spitting out the long post. The rebound was caught by Aitana Bonmatí inside the area and she finished into an empty goal, but Patri Gavira appeared at the last minute to deflect the ball. In the 60th minute, Pina did not fail: he received the ball again on the edge of the area but this time he changed his shot to the short post and scored 4-1.
Both teams made changes and moved the bench. Pere Romeu put Esmee Brugts on the field to once again place a more recognized defensive line, with Ona Batlle on the right and the Dutchwoman on the left. It was Esmee who was in charge of marking the little hand. First he faced Maria Estella on the left wing and finished with a shot at Echezarreta’s short post.
