After the polling stations closed, the big counting entered its final spurt on Sunday afternoon. Around 750 vote counters were on duty in the city of Bern on the election weekend.

In the Weissenstein sports hall on the border with the municipality of Köniz, around 200 people got ready on Sunday afternoon to evaluate the ballots and ballot papers that had not yet been processed. A further 150 helpers were deployed at the polling stations and in the IT service, as a spokesman for the city of Bern announced on site.

The postal votes were already counted on Saturday. Of the approximately 85,000 eligible voters in the city of Bern, 42,646 had submitted an envelope by this point. Voter turnout on Saturday was around 50.2 percent.

On Sunday the polling stations were open until 12 p.m. Around midday, long queues formed at the location in the generation house at the train station, as an on-site inspection showed.

General elections took place in the city of Bern on Sunday. The community and city council were newly elected, as was the city council. In addition to the four national voting proposals, voters in the city of Bern were also able to decide on the deficit budget. With the new set-up of the city parliament, the final results of the counting were expected around midnight.
