four days after the snowfall, Normans still light up with candles

Power has not yet been restored everywhere in , four days after snowfall in the region. Enedis assures that a return to normal is expected in the coming hours.

Villages still plunged into darkness. Four days after the snowfall deprived thousands of Normans of electricity, some of them were still lighting up with candles this Saturday, November 23.

In Maisoncelles-la-Jourdan (), some homes found themselves without light or electric heating from the end of the afternoon. Bernard, who suffered a disaster in the village, told BFMTV that he still managed to fight against winter temperatures.

“We heat ourselves with the stove (…) we don’t suffer from the cold at all,” explains the latter on BFMTV.

A quick return to normal?

Her mother, Andrée, sitting at the table at home, confides that she will soon run out of candles. “These are the last ones we have since we hadn’t planned all that,” she says.

Without lighting, “we're going to bed early, very early”, smiles the old lady on our antenna who hopes that the power will return as quickly as possible.

This Saturday, Enedis was able to restore power to more than 80% of customers who had been deprived of electricity in since the passage of the Caetano storm. However, 15,500 homes were still cut off in Normandy.

The company assures that a return to normal is expected this Saturday evening or at the latest Sunday morning in the region.
