The second men’s slalom of the season is tough! On Sunday morning the ski stars had a lot to fight in Gurgl’s pole forest. Just not one.

The slalom season couldn’t have started better for Clement Noel. Last week the Frenchman started with a win in Levi, and now he is leading the Gurgl field at halftime – in a superior manner. With start number 2, Noel tamed the icy, steep and challenging slope more brilliantly than anyone else and gave starting runner Linus Straßer more than three seconds on the way!
At the end of the first run, Noel leads Atle Lie McGrath by 88 hundredths of a second, with Steven Amiez, a surprise man, right behind (+0.94 seconds). The Frenchman has never been on the podium in the World Cup before, but today he has in the second run from 1.30 p.m the great chance for the first podium.

The race in the Austrian winter sports venue was marked by many failures. Among others, Manuel Feller and the returnees Marcel Hirscher and Lucas Braathen were hit.
Vinatzer and Kastlunger in the second run
Meanwhile, the Azzurri have sent a small exclamation mark. After Levi’s debacle (no one made it into the second run) and Tommaso Sala’s bad news (end of season after torn cruciate ligament), three Azzurri will be there in the second round – two of them from South Tyrol. Tobias Kastlunger (20th) and Alex Vinatzer (25th) start the decision with good numbers, as does Stefano Gross (21st).
The second run in Gurgl starts at 1:30 p.m. As always, with the SportNews live ticker you are there in real time.
