Thanks to “consequent use of tear gas and a water throwing device”the “rapid” intervention of the police made it possible to put an end to the scuffles, during which “ten Montpellier supporters were taken care of by the firefighters”. Four police officers were injured, according to the same source.
The 300 Montpellier supporters, getting off their bus before arriving at the Geoffroy Guichard stadium, “contravened the requirements of the prefectural decree of November 15” taken to supervise the meeting.
After joining the stadium visitors' car park “under good escort”, they were evacuated “for an immediate return to the Hérault department” on the orders of the prefect of the Loire, who “strongly condemned these actions”.
