Victorious in the derby before the break (1-0), OL were unable to continue in Ligue 1 at Reims on Saturday evening (1-1, 12th day). Cherki had opened the scoring (38th) but Diakité equalized after the break (55th), thus preventing Les Gones from entering the top 4. Reims is sixth, a small point behind.
No winner in this Saturday evening confrontation between Stade Rémois and Olympique Lyonnais (1-1). Lyon would have deserved better throughout the match but came up against a very good Yehvann Diouf in the opposing goal.
OL quickly set the record straight. Dominant, the Rhone residents had their foot on the ball for a large part of the first period, coming up against the Reims goalkeeper several times. Lacazette, Benrahma, Cherki, all tried their luck, but Diouf was vigilant to avoid the slightest goal. Cherki finally managed to break through his wall by deflecting with his head a perfect cross from Lacazette (1-0, 38th).
Perri's double save
Just as aggressive in the second half, the Lyonnais this time had a little more difficulty breaking into the opposing area, due to a tighter defense. On the few opposing attempts, Reims tried by all means to go on a counter-attack, but these were mostly stopped. Oumar Diakite was the only one to have managed to deceive Lucas Perri, after he recovered a slightly floating ball in the area, just in front of the goalkeeper (1-1, 55th).
The two teams went blow for blow, going from one side of the field to the other, without being able to decide between them. Perri also saved his team with a double save in added time, allowing OL to avoid the hold-up at the end of the match. Final score 1-1, which doesn't help many people. Reims moves to 6th and OL remains 5th, 4 points off the podium.
