The fourth was the right one for George Russell! During his first three pole positions in F1, the Briton never managed to win the Grand Prix. An anomaly now rectified by the Mercedes driver, who dominated this Las Vegas Grand Prix head and shoulders. Starting at the front, the Englishman first had to resist against the Ferraris in the first laps, before taking the lead without ever being caught, despite the efforts of Lewis Hamilton behind him.
With two victories – the first in Austria and the second this Sunday in Las Vegas – George Russell joins the (not so closed) clan of multiple Grand Prix winners in 2024 after Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton. A second victory which had been taken away from him at Spa-Francorchamps earlier in the season, after a disqualification for a minimum weight not respected. The Briton, often frustrated this year by phenomena beyond his control such as the red flag in Brazil for example, hopes that his bad luck has finally let him down in Sin City.

“I was waiting for something to happen!” In the two races where I was on pole before that, there was always chaos, rain, there was always something happening. The last race, in Brazil, there was the red flag. I felt confident here, I had a good lead, but I was waiting for something to happen but it didn't happen! I think my luck has changed and I am very happy. (…) Las Vegas is crazy, with all the buildings as a backdrop, I couldn't even describe this place. To get a pole and a victory, a double with Lewis, we couldn't have asked for a better place to do that. »
