The game

Needing to win to stay in the lead without having to depend on Palmeiras, Botafogo entered the field nervous. And Vitória took advantage of that.

Leão knew how to take advantage of the spaces and was better in the 1st half. So much so that 19 minutes into the game, Alerrandro opened the scoring.

In Alvinegro's best chance, at 39, Igor Jesus finished with a cart, but stopped in a great save from Lucas Arcanjo.

Behind the scoreboard, Botafogo came back pressing in the 2nd half and piled up opportunities. Vitória, in turn, tried to make time pass.

Impatient, the black and white fans booed a few times as the minutes passed.

On the field, the Rio team tried to overcome their disorganization to pose a threat.

Until at 42, Tiquinho Soares headed, the ball deflected off Wagner Leonardo and ended up in the back of the net.

Botafogo went all out on the attack in search of victory, but failed and saw Palmeiras take the lead with three rounds remaining.

In stoppage time, the Cariocas still lost Tiquinho, who was sent off for offending the referee.
