A Milan-Juve shock without a winner

The poster didn't really live up to its promises. Saturday evening, AC Milan and Juventus Turin were unable to decide between themselves, after a sad Serie A shock (0-0, 13th day). A sharing of points which does not suit anyone, the two teams remaining outside the top 5.

Juventus Turin are still undefeated in Serie A this season, but they are not advancing. Since the arrival of Thiago Motta this summer, the Bianconeri have now had thirteen matches in a row without losing in the league, but for only six small victories. The only elite team to display this record, the Piedmontese team is not dropped in the standings and it will be, at worst, four points behind the lead on Sunday evening if Napoli wins against AS Rome.

The former PSG player and Bologna coach would of course have liked another outcome for this meeting, but he had to do without his striker Vlahovic for the first time this season, injured with Serbia during the break, and was able to failing that, satisfy respect for the fundamentals in Lombardy. Best defense in Serie A (seven goals conceded in thirteen days), the Old Lady once again showed great collective strength in this sector on Saturday evening, facing, it is true, the impotent Rossonerri.

A very quiet Maignan

Still, Juventus was the most enterprising team on Saturday evening, with two quick attempts from Conceiçao (8th) and Koopmeiners (10th). The first, blocked, and the second, imprecise, were unable to challenge the French goalkeeper of AC Milan, a vigilant Maignan a few minutes later on a distant and on-target shot from Gatti (16th). It was in fact Yildiz who caused a wave of panic in the Milan area but the Turkish winger missed the target by a few centimeters (23rd).

Cambiaso tried well in the second half, countered by the excellent return of Thiaw (53rd), but the second act did not succeed in offering a better offensive spectacle to the thousands of spectators who came to San Siro this weekend . As mentioned previously, this sharing of points does not suit anyone since the Turinese are currently sixth, three points behind the current interior leader, winner in Verona during the day (0-5). The situation is worse for AC Milan, just behind Juve in the standings… but six points behind.
