Lamine Yamal, the big controversy

FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said the absence of Lamine Yamal was not responsible for the club's poor performance and subsequent defeat against Real Sociedad before the international break.

The 17-year-old is still sidelined with an ankle injury and will be absent against Celta Vigo at Balaidos on Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m. The Blaugrana have only lost twice in La Liga this season, and the Spanish press have pointed out that those two defeats came in the only two games where the teenage star did not start.

“No, so against Real Sociedad we didn't play very well, but Lamine's absence wasn't the reason. Lamine is of course very important for us, but we have players who can play, so we have to worry about that. Lamine cannot play tomorrow. We will see when he is fit and can come back, but for us it is important that he comes back 100%.”

A Yamal-dependence at Barça?

Flick was asked if it was a challenge for Barcelona to win without Lamine Yamal. “I will ask the team this question tomorrow, I think it’s a good question for them”said Flick with a smile on his face. He did not reveal anything about who would replace Lamine Yamal in the team.

“We have different options, it could be Rapha, it could be Dani [Olmo]Fermin, this could also be Pablo [Gavi]it could be [Victor] ».
