“It’s going slowly”

In an extract already shared on social networks, Eddy Mitchell confides to Audrey Crespo-Mara that “It’s going slowly, it’s going well.” A smoker since the age of 14, the interpreter of On the road to Memphis shares having stopped smoking a month ago, on the recommendation of doctors. “They say that you shouldn't smoke, that you shouldn't drink, that you shouldn't eat fatty foods. Finally, that you shouldn't do anything…”, he commented derisively before adding: “The drinking ended too.”

Up to “two bottles of whiskey a day”

In this extract, Eddy Mitchell confirms having drunk in the past until “two bottles of whiskey a day”, not for pleasure, but “out of mania.”

Great friend of Johnny Hallyday

An archive then shows him with his great friend, Johnny Hallyday, with whom he formed the famous Vieilles Canailles trio alongside Jacques Dutronc. The video instantly brings back good memories for the singer: “It was during the Vieilles Canailles tour, in Clermont-Ferrand. He was in great shape. Besides, the doctors who were following him came to see me to thank me even though I had nothing to do with it. They said, “You gave him a great time.” He forgot he was on chemo. It’s true, it was a lovely evening.”

The full exclusive interview can be watched on TF1, in the show Sept à Huit, this Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 7:30 p.m.
