Top 14 – Big blow for Clermont which wins in

Clermont pulled off one of the big hits of this Top 14 day by winning on the pitch, 30-22. Christophe Urios' men relied on their power to achieve their first away success of the season. Opposite, disappointment for Lou who does not confirm his good start to the season and falls for a second time in a row at home…

It was a Lou team in full doubt that hosted Clermont this Saturday afternoon. With three consecutive defeats, the Lyonnais absolutely had to raise their heads.

Undisciplined Lyonnais

At a closed start to the match, it was the Clermontois who were the most dangerous. Reduced to ten following a yellow card from Shvangiradze, Lou conceded a penalty to allow Clermont to open the scoring after ten minutes of play.

Led, the Lyonnais had to react. And despite several mistakes, Lou also managed to equalize thanks to a penalty from Méliande. The first try of the match came a few minutes later. Moala pierced the Lyon defense to allow his team to take the lead.

With a solitary feat, Couilloud responded immediately. Big percussion on the left side of the Lyonnais. The Lou players thought they would return to the locker room tied but just before the break, Fourcade scored a second try for ASM on a carried ball.

Clermont got scared

The second half started at a slow pace and we finally had to wait until the 54th minute of play to see Clermont score a third try. Tauzin was at the conclusion of a great action launched by Moala. Couilloud, again, allowed his team to still believe in it by doubling the lead just three minutes later.

With less than ten minutes remaining, Clermont scored another penalty to lead by ten points. But Couilloud was having a great night and with a kick, the latter found Dumortier who scored a third try for Lou. In the process, and as Gerland began to believe in it again, the Lyonnais conceded a new penalty. Belleau was quick to give his team an eight-point lead and allow his team to win for the first time this season at home.
