VIDEO – Friday, the highest French administrative court rejected the appeal of the Canal+ group channel, considering that it was filed before the finalization of the procedure by Arcom.
Back to square one for C8: the Council of State on Friday judged its appeal against the imminent loss of its TV frequency “inadmissible”, because it was filed too early, and it will have to wait to formulate another. A few hours after this decision, one of the main people concerned, Cyril Hanouna reacted live in “Touche pas à mon poste!”.
«Let me explain to you, in reality Arcom did not delete C8 but just did not preselect it. (…) And the Council of State, what did they say? “We cannot make and overturn a decision that has not been made”“, he began by denouncing. “This is the whole flaw of this affairestimates the producer host. They say to themselves: “maybe there is a file that will not be taken and you will be reselected so we cannot comment”“, he summarized under the control of lawyer Fabrice di Vizio on set. “They say to themselves: “it’s too early but we will decide when we take the chain off you”“, he quipped again.

For Cyril Hanouna, the Council of State “leaves 400 families (of collaborators, editor’s note) in the dark». «There is an incredible legal vacuum“, he further estimated. “It's still a huge scam…“, he told Fabrice di Vizio. In mid-December, the final list of selected channels will be communicated by Arcom. “We'll know what's going to happen», added Cyril Hanouna who does not refrain from having recourse, if the conclusions are not lenient for C8, to a summary judgment. And he wants to reassure his 2 million viewers: “We're here until the end of February and then, don't worry, that's all I can tell you».
A petition with more than 800,000 signatures
Earlier in the day, Gérald-Brice Viret, general director of Canal+ France in charge of programs and antennas, had already reacted to this decision with AFP. “For the Council of State, it's too early, but for our employees, it's too late“, he regretted. Because, according to his group, the absence of C8 from the preselection is “extremely damaging right now».
«There are 400 employees who are waiting with great anxiety for what will happen from February 28r” and have “a sword of Damocles above the head», argued Gérald-Brice Viret. According to him, President Maxime Saada and the other leaders of the Canal+ group will meet “from Monday» to discuss a possible future appeal. “There is real enthusiasm around C8», assured the boss, citing the petition launched by the channel to ask for its frequency to be maintained. It had 830,000 signatures as of Friday afternoon.
