PSG ready to turn around after being busted?

On the trail of Rayan Cherki during the last summer transfer window, PSG saw the Lyonnais turn around at the last moment to finally extend with OL. But faced with the financial difficulties of the Lyonnais, the tricolor nugget will be on the market again this winter. Enough to convince to return to the charge?

During the last summer transfer window, PSG wanted to attract Rayan Cherki for a long time. Considered one of the most promising young talents of his generation, the attacking midfielder was a priority for the Parisian leaders, eager to infuse more creativity and youth into their squad. However, while negotiations seemed well underway, Cherki took everyone by surprise by extending his contract with Olympique Lyonnais. A decision which did not at all please the Parisian leaders, Luis Campos in the lead, upset at the turn of the matter.

OL in crisis, Cherki for sale

A few months later, the situation changed. Plunged into a serious financial crisis (and a threat of administrative relegation to Ligue 2 which looms for June 2025), Olympique Lyonnais could be forced to sell some of its best elements this winter to balance its accounts. Rayan Cherki, whose market value remains high, is therefore once again expected to leave the club. At only 20 years old, his talent and his ability to evolve in several offensive registers continue to attract the interest of the biggest clubs, and PSG could be tempted to return to the charge.

PSG has digested?

For PSG, the arrival of Cherki would make sense. The profile of the young player fits perfectly with the new Parisian policy, focused on the development of promising talents. And the profile sought by Luis Enrique, who wants an additional winger to play the luxury jokers. It remains to be seen whether Paris has digested the false note of the summer and whether Doha will agree to change its position. Furious in August, will Luis Campos let his admiration for Cherki's talent overcome his resentment? Answer in January…
