no extra premium for single-parent families

C’was expected, it is now official. The Christmas bonus granted to single-parent families will not be renewed this year, confirming information revealed by TF1 Info. The entourage of the Minister of Solidarity, Paul Christophe, affirmed this at the Parisian : “Last year was something exceptional. This did not exist before,” he said, arguing that it was the result of an agreement with Parliament following a proposal from socialist deputies.

The justification provided is obviously the budgetary context. The government is seeking at all costs to make 60 billion in savings. This measure allowed more than 744,000 households to benefit from an additional premium of 35% on this end-of-year bonus. Granted to beneficiaries of the RSA or the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) in November or December, it will be paid from December 13.

Its amount varies depending on the size of the household. For example, a couple without children will receive 228.68 euros. A single parent with two children will be granted 370.45 euros, and up to 617.42 euros for a single-parent family with five children. The bonus will be paid automatically and in one go. The Ministry of Solidarity, however, assures that it maintains its interest in single-parent families.

Extensive help for single-parent families

Minister Paul Christophe's office cites, among other things, the extension of the free choice of childcare supplement (CMG) until the child is twelve years old, compared to six currently for single-parent families. It makes it possible to finance part of the expenses related to childcare, in the event that parents need to use home care, an authorized association or a crèche. Last March, two senators proposed the creation of a card which would grant them advantages to finance certain activities.
