After the international break, FC Bayern welcomed FC Augsburg to the derby at the Allianz Arena on Friday evening. Grades and individual criticism of the game.
Munich – Finally the Bundesliga again!
At the start of the 11th matchday, FC Bayern hosted FC Augsburg in the Allianz Arena for the derby.
The new turf in the Allianz Arena shone lush green, white flakes flew from the sky every now and then: the atmosphere on Friday evening was perfect for a befitting start to the year-end spurt and the weeks of truth for FC Bayern.
And yet, despite the vast superiority, a lot of patience was required before Vincent Kompany's team caught the visitors from FC Augsburg ice cold. Harry Kane – who else? – it was the one who converted two penalties (63rd/90th) and scored a hat trick in stoppage time. The super striker single-handedly shot Bayern to their sixth win in a row and warmed 75,000 hearts in temperatures around freezing point.
FC Bayern wins the derby against Augsburg
The 3-0 (0-0) in the Bavarian derby was not a spectacle, but it was the desired success at the start of the phase in which Paris, Dortmund and Leverkusen are now waiting for Bayern. The fact that the cushion at the top of the Bundesliga table grew to eight points, at least for one night, was of course something that people were happy to take into account. The signal to the competition: Bayern are in the flow – even the international break couldn't change that. So it's better to dress warmly!
Compared to the win at St. Pauli, Kompany only made one change: Michael Olise started for Leroy Sané. Despite rib problems, Manuel Neuer was in goal, but he was largely unemployed. It was clear from the start that Bayern's offense would determine this game. Right in the middle: Leon Goretzka, who was in the starting line-up for the second time in a row.
However, the first few passes were still too imprecise – partly due to our own inconsistencies, but also because the guests' defense was good and punished every mistake. Goretzka had the first notable chance when he shot from the edge of the penalty area and narrowly missed (13'). The preparatory work came – as so often – from Jamal Musiala, who once again demonstrated his impressive form.
Kane scores twice: marks for Bayern's win against Augsburg
Joshua Kimmich (18th) was also served by him in the initial phase, which, however, did not produce any spectacular scenes. The expected picture emerged: Bayern had more than 70 percent of the ball and took control of the game, but Augsburg put up a brave fight.
There was a first really nice move across several stations in the 24th minute, but Coman was just as unable to crown it as Augsburg's Phillip Tietz on the other side (25th). But Bayern became more forceful and tested the strong FCA keeper Nediljko Labrovic more and more often because their counter-pressing was also working better. Kane and Musiala (28th/31st/42nd) almost took the lead, Goretzka was close shortly before half-time – but the ball didn't want to land in the goal. 0-0 at half time – off to the warmer.
Even after that, the goal continued: Musiala, Goretzka, Olise – everyone was allowed, but Labrovic was always there. The FCA goalkeeper could only be overcome when the VAR awarded a penalty after a handball by Pedersen. Harry Kane scored. Twelfth goal of the season, ninth of nine Bundesliga goals converted – or in other words: ice cold. Shortly before the end, Kane scored again from the spot after he was fouled himself. Deserved work victory.
No fireworks in the fridge: But still five times grade 2 at FC Bayern
Manuel Neuer
After rib problems in the last few days, he managed to make it into the starting line-up. Standing extremely high when in possession of the ball. Hardly required on the line, asked more with his feet. Note: 3
Raphael Guerreiro
The left-footed player again acted as a right defender. Hardly in demand defensively, more active offensively in the second half and with good crosses. Note: 3 (from 75. Konrad Laimer, above)
Dayot Upamecano
Pushed the defensive line far forward in conjunction with Kim and also didn't allow anything defensively. Confident performance from the French central defender. Note: 2
Minjae Kim
23rd starting eleven appearance in the 23rd competitive game of the season – and still wide awake. Took over the opening of the game, even dribbling at times. He was also flawless defensively and ensured calm and stability in the Munich defense. Note: 2
Alphonso Davies
Most of Bayern's attacks came from his left side. The Canadian was very active and played well. Note: 2 (ab 90. Sacha Boey, oB)
Joshua Kimmich
Long-running favorites like Kim. Organized the record champions' midfield and also played chip balls. He missed Bayern's first big chance in the 18th minute and later tried from distance. Note: 3
Leon Goretzka
Was allowed to start from the start for the second time in a row and had Bayern's first goal in the 12th minute. But the aim was too imprecise. Good chance just before half-time when Labrovic barely steered his shot over the crossbar. Had a bad bad pass in the middle of the first half that colleague Kimmich had to iron out. But overall a decent performance. Note: 3
Michael Olise
As in the past few weeks, it is no longer quite as noticeable as at the start of the season. Hit the corner in the second half that led to the penalty. Note: 3 (ab 75. Leroy Sane, o.B.)
Jamal Musiala
He tried his new parade discipline with his head and several times with his foot. Musiala was always involved in the first half when things got dangerous. Dipped a bit in the second half, but overall very noticeable again, even without a goal. Note: 2 (from 88. Thomas Müller, above)
Kingsley Coman
A lot of things came from the left, but like his counterpart Olise, Coman was rarely compelling enough. Guest keeper Labrovic tested for the first time in the 21st minute and almost made it 2-0 after taking the lead, but put the lob into the net. Note: 3 (ab 75. Serge Gnabry, o.B.)
Harry Kane
It wasn't visible at first, but then the score was 1-0. But failed in the 28th minute from the five corner. It was probably too close for him, as Kane was as accurate as usual from the penalty spot and scored the important 1-0 lead with his 12th goal of the season. Shortly before the end he added from the spot and decided the game before artistically scoring his third goal in stoppage time. Note: 1
