World’s Shortest Woman Meets World’s Tallest Woman for Afternoon Tea

The world’s shortest woman living and the world’s largest woman living are celebrating their differences over afternoon tea.

On Nov. 20, Guinness World Records shared a video of Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest woman living, and Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman living, meeting for the first time. The two women came together to celebrate Guinness World Records Day over tea in London, and their sweet interaction was captured on camera.

As they approached each other, Gelgi, who is 7 feet, 0.7 inches tall, leaned over to say hello to Amge. In response, Agme, who is five feet shorter than Gelgi at 2 feet, 0.7 inches, waved upward.

In a separate moment, the two women are having tea and compliment each other.

“You are so beautiful,” Gelgi said to Amge.

“Thank you. You, too,” Amge replied.

Later in the video, the ladies exchanged gifts they brought for one another and posed for photos together.

“It was wonderful,” Gelgi said of their encounter. “She’s the most gorgeous lady and I was waiting to meet her for a long time.”

Amge said she felt the same.

“I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me,” Jyoti said, per Guinness World Records, “but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman.”

Gelgi said she realized that she has a lot in common with Jyoti.

“We both love self-care, makeup, doing our nails,” Gelgi said.

During the video, Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief at Guinness World Records, explained how special it was to see the two “iconic” record-breaking women meet for the first time.

“Guinness World Records is all about celebrating differences and by bringing together these two unique women with very different perspectives on life, they can learn a lot about each other, but we can learn a lot about them and about the world around us,” Glenday said.

“One of the joys of working at Guinness World Records is getting to meet record holders and also to be present for iconic moments like this when two of the biggest names in record-breaking come together and meet,” he continued.
