For Le Mans supporters, the evening of Friday November 22 started well. 13 years after leaving the Léon Bollée stadium, it was finally time for them to inaugurate their premises, after years of talks with the town hall. Having made the trip for the occasion, Stéphane Le Foll even predicted a victory to be celebrated in these new districts, after the meeting between Le Mans and Orléans, as part of the 13th day of National.
Manceaux picked from the start
Facing visitors third in the championship, achieving a first victory at home this season was not going to be easy for Patrick Videira's team, only eleventh. No doubt for fear of seeing their opponents cool down in the three ambient degrees, the Orléanais did not leave more than seven minutes to the Manceaux before launching a first offensive after a lost ball in midfield, concluded by a cross-shot from Ponti, deflected at point blank range by Guillaume Khous, yet isolated in the middle of four Sang et Or defenders.
This rapid warm-up was not enough to bring the Sarthois into the match, the opposing attacks multiplying on the Le Mans cages, including a crossbar hit by the former player of the house El Khoumisti in the 18th minute. A few moments later, it was Lucas Bretelle who came to complete a very beautiful collective movement from Loire, triggering angry chants of Virage Sud by Marie-Marvingt. The boos accompanying the players to the locker room were of the same tone, after a much calmer end to the first period.
Three Le Mans changes later, the game resumed and Kocik saved his team twice in the 55th and 59th minutes, preventing El Khoumisti from scoring his sixth goal of the season. At fault on an Orléanais player, Gueye then saw his superb acrobatic return refused by Mr. Zolota, before Brice Oggad was penalized with a direct red card for a dangerous sole on Halby Touré. The only notable event of the last thirty minutes was Tronchet's exit due to injury, leaving his partners with nine men, and the departure of the Virage Sud supporters in the 80th minute, concluding a tasteless match and a worrying sixth defeat in the league for the locals.
