SNOWY EPISODE IN EURE – SITUATION UPDATE
News
At 2:30 p.m., Friday November 22, traffic restrictions for heavy goods vehicles are lifted:
The improvement in climatic conditions has led Météo France to lift the orange vigilance and place the Eure department on yellow snow-ice vigilance since 12:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., all traffic restriction measures were lifted on the Eure road network. Heavy goods vehicles parked in storage areas can therefore resume their journey.
Since the start of the event, 19 minor injuries have been treated.
At the peak of the event, 650 heavy goods vehicles were stored in the department, in 3 storage areas. Meals were distributed by Civil Protection and the Red Cross to stranded truck drivers.
5,500 ENEDIS customers remain without electricity, in 74 municipalities. ENEDIS continues to restore power, with the reinforcement of teams from Picardy.
The roads are passable but traffic conditions remain difficult, particularly on the secondary network.
The prefecture's crisis unit, which coordinated operations, has been lifted.
Charles Giusti, prefect of Eure, recalls that in the context of winter traffic conditions, the greatest caution must be observed on the roads. Refreezing phenomena and slippery roads remain locally possible, particularly at nightfall.
The prefect of Eure thanks the firefighters, the gendarmerie soldiers, the police officers, and all the agents of the State services, local authorities and civil security associations mobilized in the management of this first winter episode.
He also welcomes the solidarity actions of citizens to assist those involved, including in particular those of farmers.
