what we know about the accident involving a bus on the A6B during bad weather

A motorcyclist, involved in the accident which occurred late in the evening this Thursday, November 21 after the episode of snowfall and ice, is between life and death. Several people were seriously injured.

A violent accident occurred late in the evening this Thursday, November 21 on the A6B between L'Haÿ-les-Roses and Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-) following snowfall and ice on the roads. Several vehicles, a bus, four cars and a motorcycle were involved.

• Five seriously injured, including a man between life and death

According to a prefectural source at BFMTV, an initial assessment established yesterday evening showed 5 injured in absolute emergency and 31 people in relative emergency. To AFP, the police headquarters indicated this Friday, November 22, that the driver of the motorcycle was between life and death.

All the victims were transferred to several hospitals in the Ile-de- region: Béclère hospital, Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital, etc.

On site, 84 firefighters intervened, supported by 24 engines. They were engaged until 2:30 in the morning.

• An open investigation

The events took place around 11 p.m. According to initial findings, the driver of one of the cars lost control, which forced the bus “to deviate from its trajectory”. By lying on its side, the coach hit a car and the motorcyclist.

The first toxicological tests – alcohol and narcotics – carried out on the bus driver proved negative, specifies the police headquarters.

After this accident, the Créteil public prosecutor's office opened an investigation into unintentional injuries by a driver with incapacity for more than three months, BFMTV learned. It was entrusted to the CRS Île-de-France southern highway.

• A bus from the Blablacar fleet

Contacted by BFMTV, the Blablacar company affirms that it is a bus that is part of its fleet. The latter was traveling towards with 37 people on board.

She quickly “chartered” a bus to repatriate these passages to the departure station. An emergency number has also been set up to answer questions.

“Our priority is to help passengers. We are affected by this accident and our teams are fully mobilized,” specifies the company.

• An accident directly linked to bad weather

The accident took place after the heavy snowfall which fell on Île-de-France this Thursday, November 21, in the middle of storm Caetano. The region was placed in orange snow-icy alert.

Faced with bad weather, the police headquarters had decided to activate level 2 of the snow and ice plan for the region. Immediate consequence for road users: the maximum speed has been lowered by 20km/h on all regional roads.

In its vigilance bulletin, Météo-France also indicated that “the risks of accidents” were increased with climatic conditions.
