The man is 25 years old. “He was first incarcerated by the Grenoble children’s judge at the age of 15,” reports Éric Vaillant. “He has 19 convictions on his criminal record” in particular for “acts of violence” and drug trafficking.

He was sentenced to six years in prison “over the last ten years”, adds the magistrate.

The suspect's identity had been “known since the very day of the murder” since his identity card had been found in “the vehicle that he himself had crashed in front of Grenoble town hall before attacking Lilian Dejean “.

The arrest of the young man was made possible thanks to the “very hard work of the police and magistrates”, specifies the magistrate. But also thanks to “European police and judicial cooperation”.
