8,000 homes without power this Friday morning

After a night marked by violent gusts, the situation on the island's electricity network worsened this Friday, November 22. At 8:30 a.m., 8,000 homes were without electricity, according to information communicated by EDF Corse. “While the outages that occurred the day before had been completely resolved, the extreme winds last night caused further damage to the network.” indicates the manager.

The most impacted areas are Grand , Ghisonaccia, Plaine Orientale and the Far South. EDF teams, fully mobilized on the ground, are actively working to restore power as quickly as possible, despite the still difficult weather conditions.

Forecast
Météo maintains an orange alert for strong winds across the entire island until 10 a.m. this morning. The gusts, reaching up to 180 km/h at Cap Corse, remain very strong but should gradually weaken in the morning, with a change to yellow alert expected by noon. A return to normal is expected in the afternoon.

Safety instructions to follow
EDF reiterates the importance of not intervening yourself in the event of a downed electrical wire and of immediately contacting the single troubleshooting number on 09 72 67 50 20.
