The brutal winter offensive, which hit the north of France this Thursday, November 21, 2024, did not spare Eure-et-Loir.
Franck Baraer is a forecaster at Météo France in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). He explains to us the weather phenomenon and what is planned for this Friday, November 22 and this weekend.
“There was the descent of a mass of maritime polar air, over the north of France, which transited the Atlantic Ocean and which collided with milder air, coming from the Bay of Biscay. » These two colliding weather phenomena partly explain why not all departments were affected, particularly in the Centre-Val de Loire region.

Eure-et-Loir, the most affected department of Centre-Val de Loire
“The Caetano depression which formed at midday on Thursday November 21, 2024, was centered first on Brittany, then Normandy, the Paris region and part of Center-Val de Loire. There is a very clear contrast between, for example, Vendée, where it is 15 degrees and the north of the country. We are talking about an air mass conflict. »

Eure-et-Loir is the most affected department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, spilling over into the Rambouillet sector in Yvelines, where a nice layer of snow formed and which strengthened in in the evening, reaching 10 centimeters in places.
The night from Thursday to Friday remained very cold. The sky will clear this morning with severe frosts. “We are expecting between -2 to -4 degrees this morning [vendredi matin, NDLR]early. » As the ground is wet and snowy, the roads may be very slippery.

16 degrees forecast for Sunday
This cold snap will nevertheless be very brief, because Météo France announces a mild spell from Saturday noon. “Sunday November 24, we expect 16 degrees in Chartres,” predicts Franck Baraer. “The mild air coming from the Bay of Biscay will rise. Southerly winds will cause warm air to rise. It is these air mass conflicts that create significant temperature gradients. »
From Sunday to Wednesday, temperatures will be milder with rain. 15 degrees are forecast for Monday and 11 degrees for Tuesday. From Thursday November 28, seasonal temperatures should return with 2 and 4 degrees in the morning and 7 to 10 degrees in the afternoon.
