Frédéric Lopez: this devastating show that he no longer wants to host at all

A “meeting” that has become unmissable, awaited by millions of viewers. But in which Frédéric Lopez no longer wants to take part. From its creation, in 2004, to 2018, the 57-year-old host accompanied numerous personalities to “unknown land”, before giving way to Raphaël de Casabianca.

Although he now presents A Sunday in the Country, Frédéric Lopez had the opportunity to take up the torch and once again host Rendez-vous en terre stranger. A proposal that he declined and for which he gave the reasons in an interview given to TV Mag.

To our colleagues, the presenter reveals that he has stopped hosting the program, which he is now entrusting to Laury Thilleman, for several reasons. In particular the separations with his hosts on the other side of the planet who were “became too painful, even devastating”note our colleagues.

“It means I can be consumed by my own passion. Now it's important for me to have times when I don't have obligations. I'm allowed to stay on the couch under a blanket all the day if I want to”confides Frédéric Lopez before continuing: “But it’s thanks to ten years of therapy and personal development. Before, guilt was my specialty.“

Other “specialities” made his daily life difficult: anxiety and perfectionism. Flaws he worked on “thanks to his training in mindfulness meditation and self-compassion”.

There is no question of taking up the torch

“If I had to summarize these two disciplines, mindfulness meditation is constantly asking yourself the question: 'How do I feel?', and self-compassion is asking yourself: 'What do I feel like?' need ?'”explains Frédéric Lopez who takes the opportunity to reveal that he “need time for him”quite simply.

Have time to live and enjoy your loved ones. So much so that he comes to find positive points when A Sunday in the Country is canceled: “It allows me to have moments of break which make me want to go back again”.

All these reasons explain his refusal to resume the animation of Meet in unknown landalthough he agreed to present the 50th issue of the program notably with Kendji Girac as a guest. Especially since Frédéric Lopez admits to having “aged” and don't “no longer have the same physical condition”. Despite everything, he regrets nothing. This place at the head of the program France Televisionshe allowed of “seeing a lot of things over the years.”
