Snow temporarily shuts down Zurich Airport completely

The snow doesn’t stop at air traffic either: there have been massive disruptions on Swiss roads and railways since Thursday afternoon, and now Zurich Airport is also struggling with the flakes.

As a spokesman for Zurich Airport told 20 Minuten, air traffic had to be stopped completely for a time. “The “The situation is tense given the weather,” said Mr. Stocker. After 6 p.m. it snowed so heavily at times that no planes could take off for about half an hour.

These have now returned from their starting places. According to those responsible, various delays are to be expected and some flights will also be canceled entirely.

The snow is also causing problems at the international airport near Basel: As a reader reports, various Easyjet flights are being diverted to Geneva. A plane tried to land but turned off because of the snow.
