Guest of RTL, Thursday November 21, Robert Ménard, mayor of Béziers, was questioned about the release of Beaujolais Nouveau. “I don’t drink wine,” he said. He cited personal reasons: “You don't know what it's like to have an alcoholic in your family, you can't imagine the devastation it takes.”
Although he admitted to having drank a little alcohol during his youth, Robert Ménard explained: “At the beginning, I pretended to drink when I was elected.” “My brother ruined our life, of my mother, of my father, of me. I fought with my brother because he was so drunk, his wife committed suicide,” he said.
“I'm not saying all this to say that you shouldn't drink wine […] Guys who drink too much don't make me laugh for two cents and at the same time, I defend the farmers,” he said. “I try to be honest,” concluded Robert Ménard.
