what should you expect in and Île-de-?

One to three centimeters of snow are expected in the capital this Thursday, November 21, with still possible snow showers this Friday. Traffic in Île-de- is expected to be disrupted.

The first Parisian snows of the season are officially expected for Thursday, November 21. Due to the drop in temperatures and the arrival of storm Caetano, snowflakes are expected in the plains and over a large part of Île-de-France.

Météo-France announces one to three centimeters of snow in and its inner suburbs. An early winter episode, which will also affect the departments beyond: up to seven centimeters of snow are expected in Essonne.

Snowflakes are particularly expected near Évry-Courcouronnes, Étampes and even Fontainebleau. In terms of temperatures, the mercury will barely exceed 0°C.

“This snow will be particularly wet and could pose problems for transport,” warns Météo-France, which expects particularly difficult traffic conditions for the day.

For this reason, all departments of Île-de-France are placed on orange snow and ice alert from 11 a.m. this Thursday and until the end of the day.

A powerful warm spell this weekend

The next day, the morning will remain very cold according to the forecasts with a high risk of frost, sometimes severe. “In this context of possibly still snowy ground, the risk of refreezing in the northern half is quite significant,” assures Météo-France.

A few snow showers may still occur in the Ile-de-France plain. However, this weekend, the Caetano storm will almost be forgotten with a sudden powerful warm spell. Temperatures will rise to 10°C on Saturday and the thermometer will reach 18°C on Sunday in Paris and the inner suburbs.
