The days follow one another and are similar this week, and they are rather gloomy. In its 6 a.m. bulletin, this Wednesday, November 20, 224, Météo France decided to place 37 departments on alert. Corsica-du-Sud and Haute-Corse are placed on orange alert for violent winds.
The arrival of snow and ice
The day will be marked by the arrival of snow in the country with in particular five departments on alert for snow and ice in the Alps.
The first flakes will hit the northern tip of FranceNormandy being the most affected, “perhaps also Île-de-France”, indicates meteorologist Guillaume Séchet in a previous article. But snow in the plains is mainly expected for Thursday.
It is mainly the massifs which are concerned today. Snow will fall sparsely over the Massif Central, but also over the center of the Pyrenees and part of the Vosges.
The snow will arrive more “abundantly” in the Alps, with up to 50 cm of snow in the Alps, according to Météo France.
Winds up to 180 km/h
Even today, the wind will continue to blow, particularly in Corsica where the two departments are on orange alert. The storm will begin to lift around 8 a.m. this morning and Météo France predicts gusts of up to 180 km/h on Cap-Corse. In the Bastia region, the wind can blow up to 130 km/h.
