The judiciary convicts Al-Maliki of 4 months in prison… and is acquitted of “hatred of the Amazigh”

On Tuesday night, the Court of First Instance in Al-Jadeeda convicted YouTuber Elias Al-Maliki to four months in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams.

The ruling panel of the aforementioned court ruled against the aforementioned YouTuber to 4 months in prison, after convicting him of the charge of violating public modesty. While he was acquitted of the charge of incitement to hatred and discrimination, which was the subject of complaints by Amazigh associations and figures before they dropped the case.

The Court of First Instance in the capital, Doukkala, witnessed the presence of a large number of citizens and relatives of Al-Maliki, who expressed their satisfaction that he would not be pursued on charges of incitement to hatred and discrimination.

The aforementioned court is expected to hold a session next Thursday, where it will consider a new complaint filed by a female citizen against Al-Maliki, after he insulted her and said offensive words about her.

While YouTuber Elias Al-Maliki’s defense sought, during the session, to acquit their client of the charges against him, the Public Prosecution sought conviction.

Al-Maliki’s defense confirmed that the latter was being blackmailed in the name of defending the Amazigh language, stressing that “there are associations and people who gave in to the young man’s family and did not ask for even a dirham, and there are those who expose Al-Maliki to blackmail.”

Elias Al-Maliki was prosecuted by the Public Prosecution in Al-Jadeeda for the crime of incitement to hatred, the crime of discrimination, the crime of broadcasting and distributing via information systems a composition consisting of a person’s words and his image with the intention of harming people’s private lives and defaming them, the crime of public breach of modesty, the crime of public insult and defamation, and the crime of consumption. Drugs.

Al-Maliki was referred to the King’s Attorney in El Jadida after 15 Amazigh and political figures filed a complaint over his publication of content that included insults and incitement to hatred against the Amazigh.
