Ugo looks back on his elimination from Koh-Lanta, The cursed tribe : “I had a pang in my heart”
Tele-Leisure : Do we leave more serenely when we are on our third Koh Lanta ?
Ugo : We don't go off lightly. It would be an aberration, especially when we know what awaits us. The night before the game started, I didn't sleep much. I asked myself: “But, what am I doing here? Why have you plunged into this madness again?” I was aware of the difficulty and therefore I had a lot of fears, particularly regarding hunger.
Was there also a fear of tarnishing your image after your two successful adventures?
Not really. I know it's a risk but my image comes across well after the adventure. Indeed, on paper, I may have everything to lose. I've already won once and I've had a pretty incredible run in 2021, but on the contrary, I'm going there with the desire to let go of the horses. That was really my mindset.
In this sense, you have been more strategic this year…
In fact, I was more strategic because if I came back, it was to play. I had already done strategy but perhaps not to this extent. It was also my role as captain this year that wanted it but that wasn't a bad thing. I realized that it was part of the game and I am very happy to have made certain shots.
How did you feel when you realized that the adventure was ending at the gates of the finale?
I had a pang in my heart at the moment when Denis Brogniart tells me that this is the first time that I am not going to go to orientation because it remains a key test. NOW, I can only blame myself. I had to win the last immunity to access it. It's a shame not to have gone further but I tell myself that I played hard.
Ugo (Koh-Lanta, The Cursed Tribe) recounts the arrival of his partner Lisa on the set: “It put a lot of pressure on me“
You say you are disappointed when you leave the council…
It lasts a while because obviously we want to go to the end. But I tend to look at the journey rather than the goal. I did a lot of things I wanted to do Koh Lanta : I was captain, I made fire, I was Red. I can't regret anything. This adventure was great, just like the other two.
The alliance of ex-Yellows hastened your fall. Did you expect Thibault to vote against you despite your comfort-tested gesture?
It's true that I was hoping to avoid it then I tried one last appeal with my foot (when he spoke to Ilyesse, editor’s note). But I can hear Thibaut's position too. He thought intelligently, saying to himself: “Ugo has already won, he knows the events and so he leaves with an advantage over us.” The fact of wanting to put myself aside may be legitimate. And we must also say that they fought like we fought to try to advance as much as possible with their team so I can completely understand the gesture.
This episode was also marked by the arrival of your partner Lisa…
I didn't expect it at all. It was an exceptional moment. NOW, It put a lot of pressure on me because I was afraid of losing. But she was very strong, because she made me understand by her look that it wasn't serious. We would have loved to gain this comfort but seeing her even furtively did me a lot of good.
Ugo (Koh-Lanta, The Cursed Tribe) is he ready to leave for a fourth season? He answers us!
Who do you see winning Koh-Lanta, The cursed tribe ?
Everyone deserves adventure at this point. Charlotte won a lot of events, Ilyesse too, Jacques surpassed himself, Thibaut was fantastic in survival… If I had to take bets, I would put a coin on each of them.
Concerning yourself, what was missing for you to win more individual events?
I think I gave a lot of effort in the first part of the team game and I accumulated quite a bit of fatigue. It must also be said that I was facing some younger people who perhaps have more resources.
Ready to go for a fourth Koh Lanta ?
Let me rest (laughs). I don't know… Koh Lanta is part of my life anyway and I am very proud of it. I'll think about it if one day my phone rings.
