This Tuesday, November 19 from 10:05 p.m., M6 is broadcasting the last episode of Spies of Terror, its event mini-series. After several months of tracking and thanks to the joint work of Lucie (Fleur Geffrier) and Malika (Rachida Brakni) with their teams, on the basis of information provided via the cyber-infiltrator Ulysse and with the invaluable help of the managed Minotaure source by Vincent, DGSE and DGSI are capable of preventing a double major attack on French soil and at the same time eliminating the sponsor of the attacks of November 13, 2015.

A new attack

In the last minutes of the episode, everyone celebrates this highly anticipated victory against the Islamic State, and tries to rebuild after these long months of work. A few months later, we find Said, alias Minotaure, who has now become a garbage collector in .

Once in his truck, he turns on the radio. At this point, we can hear a journalist announcing that there has been a bomb attack at the end of a concert taking place in Manchester. The series therefore ends with the mention of a real event that occurred on May 22, 2017 which left twenty-three dead (including the terrorist) and 237 injured, including twenty-eight seriously.

A finale far from trivial

During a press briefing, Matthieu Suc, the author of the investigative book which inspired the series, and Franck Philippon, the screenwriter, returned to the meaning of this ending which is far from trivial. “This ending shows that the fight is never over”, explained Franck Philippon.

Ariana Grande is a bit of the success that the terrorists did not have with the attacks of November 13. They learned with the Stade de that you had to blow yourself up at the end of the concert, and not at the entrance. This ending shows that we are not in a romanticized story where everything is fine”.

The irony is that the English had managed to eliminate their equivalent of Abaoud on November 12”, added Matthieu Suc. “Somehow they avoided their November 13th, and two years later they had Manchester. The idea is to show that there has been success, but at the same time, the struggle continues.
