Star lawyer Antoine Vey accused of moral and sexual harassment

Antoine Vey must be heard this Tuesday by the disciplinary council of the bar association. Suspected of moral and sexual harassment, he risks a sanction which could go as far as suspension. This tenor of the bar was chosen as a partner by Éric Dupond-Moretti in 2016. The latter had entrusted him with the reins of the firm after his appointment as Minister of Justice.

The lawyer notably defended Julian Assange, Patrick Balkany and the rugby players Oscar Jégou and Hugo Auradou. This time it is he who is the subject of a procedure, mentions Info. In a long article, numerous testimonies from former interns or employees describe serious situations of moral harassment where humiliation was commonplace. One of the complainants also mentions “sexist and sexual harassment”.

Antoine Vey's lawyer denies the accusations

It's everyday Liberation who, in March 2023, revealed this affair with around twenty testimonies from former collaborators. They detailed constant pressure, at all hours, including outside working hours, as well as degrading comments. According to the daily, certain facts date back to 2017 and 2018.

Speaking to France Info, Emmanuel Marsigny, lawyer for Antoine Vey, denies all accusations against his client, including those of sexual harassment. “None of the facts characterizes a breach of ethical obligations, far from it. There are dozens and dozens of testimonies that say the opposite,” he explains.

On the other hand, he questions “the way in which young lawyers are ready or not to respect rules, deadlines and above all act ethically” in “firms of excellence”. Emmanuel Marsigny could ask for the hearing to be postponed.
