An accident at 3,200 meters above sea level, the Val Thorens cable car in Savoie, crashed into the station on the morning of Tuesday, November 19. Sixteen workers were on board. In the collision, eight of them were injured, two of them seriously.
After several hours stuck at altitude, the first victims were evacuated on stretchers, seriously injured in the accident of their cable car in Val Thorens (Savoie). Sixteen people were on board the cabin, workers who were going to the construction site of a mountain restaurant. “We were cruising at speed and we arrived at the station. The brakes didn't work and we hit the station head-on”says a survivor. The death toll was two seriously injured and six lightly injured.
The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. this Tuesday morning. The cable car connected two stations. The first was at 2,300 meters above sea level and the second at 3,186 meters. The conditions were extremely difficult this Tuesday morning as evidenced by videos captured by webcams on the slopes. Specialized investigators will go to the scene of the accident tomorrow.
